ANGIE MOTSHEKGA RESPONDS TO CRITICISM
Speaking to the SABC, Angie Motshekga relayed a message to her detractors. She said, “I’ve heard all the criticism. I don’t respond to it; I’m not fazed.”
Motshekga acknowledged that she was unfamiliar with the Ministry of Defence. She continued: “It would be dishonest of me to say I know what I’m going to do”.
She added, “I’m not a soldier; I’m not going to fight. I’m the head of policy, so I work with a team of experts. Even in [Basic] Education, I was not teaching.”
On social media – which has seen countless memes about Angie Motshekga’s new ministerial position – users were less than impressed by her response.

“The Minister of Finance [Enoch Godongwana] just told me that they have approved a decent sum of money to recapitalise the army. The government has started a process to address some of the problems that have been raised”.
Motshekga promised to give a detailed report back “in a month.”
