‘I’ll Continue the Legacy’: DJ Karri Reflects on His Work with Solly Moholo

Influential DJ Karri has reflected on the time he spent with Solly Moholo.

The DJ and producer, whose real name is Karabo Success Mokgara, was working closely with the late gospel singer in his social development initiatives to help homeless people.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, DJ Karri said he knew Solly for a long time as they both hail from Mathibestad. “But he didn’t know I’m DJ Karri. When I started going viral with my mixes and DJing internationally, he took notice of me late last year,” he said.

“Solly saw a video of a homeless guy who sang beautifully and called me to meet the guy. He promised to take him to the studio to record songs with him, but unfortunately this tragedy happened.

“It broke my heart as we had big plans. We come from the same place and we wanted to put our township on the map. I’ll keep the legacy going with his team and his children so we continue with the plans we were committed to do.”
