‘I lost my family that I gave so much of myself to’: Denise Zimba on rebuilding after her failed marriage

Denise Zimba has opened up about her failed marriage, revealing walking away was the best decision she made.

The actress and TV personality, who tied the knot with Jakob Schlichtig in April 2022, left her marriage due to alleged infidelity and her estranged husband’s lack of support with their two children.

In celebration of her 36th birthday, Denise took to her timeline reflecting on her marriage.

“The best thing I could have done for myself was to walk away. This past year I lost my family that I gave so much of myself to. Close friends betrayed me at levels I cannot comprehend. Those I loved the most and held close to my heart abandoned me and did not choose me,” she wrote.

Denise has since focused on her career and personal growth.

“I was lied to and stripped of everything I built for myself. Now I have to start from the beginning and yet I am grateful to God for all of it. I am blessed with another year of life, reminding me how precious life is and that you can start over and try again. I am excited to do things differently and not betray myself again. My girls deserve a thriving mama who respects herself to do right by herself. I feel free and liberated.”
