Hospital horror: Teen mum (15) ‘delivers twins on her own’
A 15-YEAR-OLD mum was admitted to Far East Hospital to give birth to twins on Tuesday, 25 February.
Eish, what happened?
After being examined by doctors, she was taken to the maternity ward.
Allegedly, the nurses neglected her despite other patients alerting them that she was close to delivering.
Teen forced to birth her twins by herself
The young mum from Daveyton in Ekurhuleni was forced to deliver her twin boys on her own. During the ordeal, she managed to take photos and send them to her family.
Photos from this distressing day have surfaced on social media, highlighting the negligence of the nurses at Far East Hospital in Springs, Ekurhuleni.
The teenage mum, who cannot be named, claimed that she had to teach herself how to deliver her baby.
“I was in pain, and the nurses didn’t care, so I had to do it myself. I lay down, pushed, and my first son was born crying. Another patient called for the nurses to assist, and they finally came to take my first child. I pushed harder, and the second baby was born, but sadly, he later died at my feet,” she claimed.
Both of my babies were born alive
She expressed her concern and said: “Both of my babies were born alive, but I was worried when the second one stopped breathing. I tried to comfort him, but he was unresponsive.”

She said a nurse allegedly collected the body and left, while a doctor later checked on the mum, examined her for injuries, administered a drip, and then moved on to other patients.
The teen mum claimed that she later discovered that her babies were cremated, and she is seeking answers.
Teen’s mum speaks
The girl’s mum claimed she was forced into signing a form under the threat of arrest.
“I saw the first child and wanted to see the second one but was denied. We wanted the bodies to bury them ourselves because they were complete human beings.
“The nurses told me they were too underweight for release and threatened to call the police if I insisted. I don’t know if this is a new rule,” she claimed.
A relative said they recently buried a five-month-old baby from a hospital in Boksburg and questioned this situation.
“What’s the difference? These were complete humans, but we’re told the law doesn’t allow it. It’s worrisome that they even adjusted the babies’ weights from 700 and 800 grams to 700 and 580 grams to protect themselves after media interest,” alleged the relative.
Hospital shares their side of the story
Phumza Ntuthuka of the Far East Hospital communications department confirmed that teen mum was admitted to the hospital.
“The mother was admitted to the gynae ward at 25 weeks pregnant with an inevitable miscarriage,” she said.
Ntuthuka said the teen mum gave birth to twins with the first weighing 750gm and the second twin with a weight of 580gm.
“The first twin was delivered alive, but in need of medical attention and was rushed to Premature Unit where he passed away within 24 hours. While the second baby was a still born. Due to their weight, the bodies couldn’t be released for burial,” said Ntuthuka.
However, the teen mum disputes this account, insisting: “Both my babies were alive, and they cried as I delivered them.”
