On October 26, 2024, family and friends gathered to pay their final respects to Gontse Salome Mokgohloa, a vibrant 19-year-old, at the Maubane Cemetery in Hammanskraal. Gontse’s life was tragically taken when she was found murdered near Majaneng bridge on October 15, leaving a profound impact on those who knew her.

During the emotional funeral service, mourners reflected on Gontse’s joyful spirit and love for dance, particularly to bacardi music. Her mkhulu, Kaiser Mokgohloa, aged 76, poignantly expressed the fleeting nature of life, thanking attendees for their support during this heartbreaking time.

Cousin Karabo Lekalakala shared touching memories, describing Gontse as a “wonderful soul” who was cherished by all. “We lost a daughter, sister, and cousin,” she said. “Her love and welcoming nature will always be remembered.” Another cousin, Basetsana Morometsi, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the unbreakable bond she felt with Gontse. “You owned the stage,” Basetsana remarked, affirming Gontse’s vibrant presence.
