Heads are rolling! Another ANC heavyweight arrested for theft and assault

The rot in the ruling party seems to be deeper that we think. Officials are either getting arrested or suspended due to bad behavior and corruption. On Monday, another heavyweight was taken in on a string of charges. ANC Newcastle Mayor, Ntuthuko Mahlaba, has been arrested and charged with theft and assault. According to KwaZulu-Natal police, Mahlaba appeared in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

The suspect is also a A CR17 campaigner and a regional chairperson has been charged for allegedly assaulting a worker hired by a private contractor. It seems like this officials has a problem with temper as he once engaged in a public fist fight with striking municipal workers. This is not the first time Mahlaba was arrested. In 2019 he was arrested for the 2016 murder of ANC Youth League (ANCYL) leader, Wandile Ngubeni. However, the charges were withdrawn following the death of a key witness.

Just a few days ago, Mahlaba warned communities that after looting and ransacking shops, they would pay the price, and the adverse effects would be felt for a very long time. He said the stealing of goods from businesses would affect workers, the community and the town’s economy. The mayor also has a bone in the mouth! How does he condemn things that he is also doing in the dark.

President Cyril Ramaphosa seems to be doing a great job of cleaning out some corrupt individuals in the ANC. We see you Mr President! Clean out the rot!
