Famous doctor found dead!
RENOWNED author, medical doctor, and political commentator Dr Gomolemo Mokae has passed away at the age of 61.
Dr Mokae was found dead at his house in Ga-Rankuwa zone 1 in Tshwane on Wednesday, 5 March at about 6pm.
According to the neighbours, they found the body in his house and called the police.
Furthermore, the medical doctor was living alone in his house.
Dr Mokae was born in Ga-Mokopane in Limpopo. His tertiary education was acquired at the University of Natal Medical School, now Nelson Mandela School of Medicine, where he earned the MBChB degree.
He served his internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and started a general practice in Soweto before moving on to Ga-Rankuwa.

He was an ardent and active promoter of African languages. Some of his published works include Masego, Short, and Kaine le Abele.
Dr Mokae received several honours for his literary works and social activism, including the Vista Prestigious Award, the Bertrams V.O.
Literature of Africa Award, and the African Achievers Award from Ekhaya Foundation.
However, in 2003, Vista University awarded him an honorary doctorate for his literary works and for his political and social activism.
Dr Mokae made a real mark in TV scriptwriting, especially with the 1990s series Gaabo Motho (Someone’s Home), which focused on the return of exiles during Mzansi’s political transition.
He also wrote for Lisenethini – It’s A Goal, a show that celebrated South Africa’s football legends, and The Secret to My Bosom, a four-part drama based on his own book. All of these shows were aired by the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).
Gauteng police spokeswoman Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said: “A case of murder is opened for further investigations after the decomposed body of the victim was found in his house. The cause of death is unknown at this stage, pending postmortem results.”
