Tasks
General Workers will be expected to perform a variety of labour-intensive and public service-related tasks, including:
- Loading and off-loading of materials and equipment using appropriate tools and safety gear
- Placing traffic signage for roadworks to ensure public safety during municipal operations
- Manual cleaning and maintenance around designated work areas using basic hand tools
- Carrying out general labour-related duties as assigned by supervisors or department heads
- Adhering to all lawful instructions and ensuring smooth operations within the respective departments
- Undertaking additional ad hoc duties as directed by management when needed
Qualifications
Minimum educational and additional requirements include:
- Grade 10 certificate (compulsory)
- Grade 12 / Matric (advantageous)
- Valid South African driver’s license (beneficial but not mandatory)
- Good physical health and ability to carry out physical tasks
- Effective communication skills and bilingual ability
- Must meet operational and physical requirements of the role
- Preference will be given to applicants residing within Midvaal jurisdiction
Experience
- 0 to 1 year of work experience in a general worker role within a Local Government Authority or public infrastructure environment
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, work independently, and carry out physical labour
- Experience in using basic manual labour tools and safety practices is desirable
