Elizabeth Serunye talks about her love life says she’s not a saint

Hey there, readers! Today, let’s chat about a powerful woman who’s making waves both on and off the screen—Elizabeth Serunye, the beloved actress known for her captivating role as Principal Thobakgale on the hit South African drama, Skeem Saam. At 53, Elizabeth is here to tell us that she doesn’t need a man to complete her life; her two sons are more than enough!

In a recent interview with Daily Sun, Elizabeth shared insights into her life as a single mum and how it has shaped her into the fierce woman she is today. “Being a single mum has made me man up,” she stated, embodying the strength and resilience that so many of us admire. Growing up in a household with boys has definitely had its impact, leading her to embrace her inner tomboy. “I had to pull on those fists and become a tomboy,” she laughed, showing that she’s not afraid to face life head-on.

She deliberately chose to focus on her sons, stating, “There’s a choice that I made, that I will never have a partner as long as I’m still raising my boys.” Now, that’s a commitment! Elizabeth is all about prioritizing her children, asserting that her journey as a mother is more important than romantic relationships. She playfully referred to her sons as her two “husbands” – Bobby and Spotty, which really shows that humor is a big part of her life too.

Her role as Principal Thobakgale has also left a significant mark on her life. Elizabeth shared that the strictness of her character has helped reinforce her dedication to raising her boys alone. It’s fascinating how actors can draw from their roles to inform their real-life experiences, isn’t it? And it seems like Elizabeth has found a unique balance, blending the lessons from her character with her responsibilities as a mother.

When asked if she ever misses having a partner, Elizabeth was candid. “Well, we can play. I’m not a saint. But thank you so much,” she smiled, affirming that while she might enjoy some playful companionship, her core focus remains on her children.

But wait, there’s more! Elizabeth also used this platform to encourage the younger generation. “Young people shouldn’t be lazy to read,” she stressed, emphasizing the importance of education. She highlighted that having a matric certificate is crucial and that commitment is key when it comes to one’s aspirations.

As for retirement? Don’t even think about it! Elizabeth declared, “Acting is my life. I can’t imagine myself doing something else.” After exploring various jobs in retail, she quickly realized that her heart lies in acting, proving that sometimes, passion truly makes all the difference.

So, here’s to Elizabeth Serunye—an inspiring figure who reminds us that strength and independence can come in many forms. Her journey as a dedicated mother and an actress continues to shine brightly, proving that one doesn’t need a partner to create a fulfilling life. Kudos to Elizabeth for living life on her own terms!
