Job Description:
The Local Office Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire operation of a local Department of Home Affairs office, ensuring the efficient delivery of civic and immigration services. Duties include managing staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, implementing governance frameworks, and driving digital transformation to enhance service delivery. This role also entails liaising with stakeholders, fostering partnerships, and managing financial, human, and physical resources to meet strategic objectives.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate should possess a relevant NQF Level 6 qualification in Public Management, Administration, or Social Sciences, along with a minimum of three years of supervisory experience in a civic services environment. Applicants must have extensive knowledge of operational management, workflow planning, and public service legislative frameworks.
A valid driver’s license is required, along with willingness to travel and work extended hours when necessary. The ideal candidate should also demonstrate exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage operations within the department.
Role Responsibilities:
Oversee the overall operations and performance of the assigned Home Affairs office to meet agreed-upon service delivery standards
Manage the provision of safe and secure enabling documents, including birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, travel documents, and passports
Ensure compliance with government mandates derived from the Government’s Programme of Action (POA)
Provide guidance and operational oversight regarding immigration services in alignment with the Immigration Act
Foster strategic partnerships with key stakeholders and represent the office at various forums
Implement strategic objectives and innovative digital transformation initiatives within the office
Coordinate and monitor the delivery of the operational plan, ensuring objectives are met within set timeframes
Implement governance processes, policies, and risk management frameworks
Effectively manage human, financial, and physical resources in the office
Guide and train staff to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and service excellence
