Danger ahead: Last Big Nuz star goes solo!
THE only surviving member of the multi-award-winning kwaito trio, Big Nuz, embarks on a solo career.
Mzingisi “Danger” Tshomela is the last surviving member of the acclaimed South African kwaito trio.
Having been part of the group since its inception in 2002, Danger is now venturing out on his own after the passing of his fellow members, Sibusiso “R Mashesha” Khomo and Mandla “Mampintsha” Maphumulo.
Despite embarking on a solo career, Danger remains committed to preserving Big Nuz’s legacy.
He is in the studio, working diligently on his debut EP, which is set to be released before the Easter holidays.
“On my solo project, I will be calling myself Danger weBig Nuz as I’m finalising it in the studio,” he said.
Embracing diverse musical influences, Danger promises to include a hip-hop track featuring artists Reason and Efelow.
Big Nuz was formed as a hip-hop group in 2002, consisting of Danger, Mampintsha, and R Mashesha.
The trio later succeeded in the kwaito genre with their hit song Umlilo in 2010, earning numerous awards.
Unfortunately, the group became a duo in 2015 following R Mashesha’s passing after a prolonged illness.
Tragedy struck again in 2022 when Mampintsha succumbed to a stroke, leaving Danger to continue solo.
As Danger prepares for his new chapter, fans attending his birthday celebration at Exit Carwash in Umlazi on Saturday, 1 March, will have an exclusive opportunity to hear some of his new tracks.
