Comedian Simphiwe Shembe Stresses the Seriousness of Circumcision
Comedian Simphiwe Shembe has weighed in on the importance of medical circumcision.
Simphiwe is one of South Africa’s most-loved comedians and author of uLizwi Book of Quotes.
He told TshisaLIVE he was picked by senior management at Right To Care.
“Through comedy but also through my book of wisdom, they wanted to lighten this heavy topic — so I was a perfect choice,” he said.
Simphiwe said medical circumcision is important because it is hygienic.
“Lots of different diseases hide inside the foreskin, including HIV. Statistics say most women prefer a circumcised male.
“Right To Care has done more than 1.5-million circumcisions. This clearly shows more people recognise the importance of being circumcised and understand true love is shown by protecting your partner — what better way to show that if not circumcision?”
Simphiwe will host the Simphiwe Shembe Comedy Picnic in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, on December 22.
