Comedian Bassem Youssef set to tour SA
Celebrated Egyptian-American comedian and satirist Bassem Youssef is set to make his South African debut with The Middle Beast Tour this month.
The tour kicks off on February 7 at the Durban ICC before moving CTICC in Cape Town on February 8 and Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on February 9.
The Egyptian-born comedian had a sit down with TshisaPod at Arena Holdings, giving an insight into his satire and the jokes that have earned him worldwide recognition as “The Egyptian Jon Stewart”.
In his one-of-a-kind solo comedy performance, the audience is taken on a personal journey through Bassem’s career as a heart surgeon in Egypt to finding himself in the middle of the Arab Spring and becoming the host of the largest political satire show in the history of the Arab world.
Bassem told TshisaLIVE: “I’m honoured to be hosted for my first tour in South Africa. As someone who has bridged cultures through my unique blend of humour and storytelling, my ability to use humour to navigate complex social and political issues has made me a powerful voice in today’s world. I believe I’ll resonate deeply with the South African audience seeking laughter and thought-provoking perspectives.”
