Brother Buyani Masikane Shares Emotional Account of Penny Ntuli’s Tragic Death
In a recent statement, Buyani Masikane, the brother of the late Penny Ntuli, has opened up about the tragic circumstances that led to his sister’s untimely death. He provided a heartfelt account of what happened, shedding light on the events that transpired during their journey to KwaZulu-Natal.
Masikane began by explaining the reasons behind their decision to travel to KwaZulu-Natal despite the adverse weather conditions that had been forecasted. He emphasized that the trip was essential due to pressing family matters that required their immediate attention. According to Masikane, the decision to proceed with the journey was not taken lightly, but given the situation, they felt they had no other choice.
“We knew about the weather warnings, but there were important matters we had to attend to in KwaZulu-Natal,” Masikane stated. “We made a careful decision, taking into account the risks, but we believed it was necessary for us to go.”
As they embarked on their journey, the family encountered severe weather conditions that made travel extremely challenging. Despite their cautious approach, they were unprepared for the intense cold they would face during the trip.

Masikane then recounted how Penny Ntuli began feeling unwell shortly after their arrival in KwaZulu-Natal. The harsh weather took a toll on her health, and she soon developed symptoms of a severe cold. The family initially believed it was just a common cold, but Penny’s condition rapidly deteriorated.
“It started as just a cold, and we thought it was nothing serious,” Masikane said. “But as the hours passed, she began to show signs of severe discomfort. We tried everything we could to keep her warm and comfortable.”
Despite their efforts to care for her, Penny’s condition worsened. She began exhibiting symptoms of hypothermia, a condition caused by prolonged exposure to extreme cold, which can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. Hypothermia occurs when the body loses heat faster than it can produce it, leading to a dangerously low body temperature. Penny’s symptoms, including shivering, confusion, and fatigue, were clear indicators of the condition.
Masikane described the family’s desperate attempts to warm her up and get her medical assistance, but their efforts were in vain. The severity of her condition escalated rapidly, and before they could reach the nearest hospital, Penny had succumbed to the effects of hypothermia.
“It all happened so quickly,” Masikane said, his voice breaking with emotion. “We tried everything we could to help her, but the cold was just too much. We lost her before we could get her the help she needed.”
The tragic passing of Penny Ntuli has left her family and loved ones devastated. Masikane’s account highlights the harsh realities of traveling during adverse weather conditions and serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers associated with extreme cold.
As the family mourns the loss of their beloved sister, they have requested privacy and space to grieve during this difficult time. They also hope that others will learn from their tragedy and take heed of weather warnings, no matter the urgency of their circumstances.
