Breaking News: Kaizer Chiefs Part Ways with Top Player with Immediate Effect
Just a few weeks to go before the start of the new Season of the DSTV Premiership League and teams have been swearing it out in preparation.
All the 16 teams have started with their preseason training and have used this time to either shop for new talent or let go of their old flame.
back off their loss in the CAF Champions League final to Al Ahly, Amakhosi have also started chopping off unwanted old wood.
One player who was unlucky and couldn’t avoid the chop is Willard Katsande. According to FARPost Willard Katsande’s contract with Kaizer Chiefs will not be renewed.
The midfielder was with Amakhosi from 2011, making 308 appearances, across all competitions.
The midfielder’s deal expired at the end of last season, and this will marked the end of his decade-long stay at the Soweto giants.
Initially, it was thought he may be awarded a one-year deal, albeit as a fringe player.
It has not been reported on where Salt and Pepper will ply his trade next season.
The 35-year-old Zimbabwean player has had a not so good show at the Chiefs camp in the last two seasons as he failed to make it into the starting eleven.
Katsande has arguably been a working horse for the Chiefs defense but might struggle to find a new team considering his age and probably his fee. He could have been one of the highest paid players.
Chiefs are yet to make an announcement in the coming days on his departure.
Meanwhile Itumeleng Khune and Bernard Parker have survived the chop as they are reportedly going to be handed a year’s contract each.
