Boy’s Mysterious Death Shocks Soshanguve Community
Residents of Jukulyn in Soshanguve, Tshwane, are reeling from shock after the tragic discovery of a nine-year-old boy’s lifeless body just meters from his home. The child, Moshe Maifo, was found lying next to a dead dog under puzzling circumstances, leaving the community searching for answers.
A Desperate Search Ends in Tragedy
According to residents, Moshe was reported missing at around 4 PM on Thursday, February 20. Concerned neighbors immediately mobilized in an effort to locate him.
“We heard the news and quickly circulated messages in our community group chats,” said Boitumelo Mahlangu, a resident. “A whistle was blown, and everyone gathered to search for him. We searched until the early hours of the morning, but we couldn’t find him.”
Despite the community’s determined efforts, their worst fears were realized when Moshe’s body was discovered the following morning at around 10 AM.
Shocking and Confusing Circumstances
What has left the community even more unsettled is the fact that searchers had passed by the same area multiple times during the night, yet the boy’s body was not there.
“We are still trying to understand what happened. We walked past that spot many times, but he wasn’t there. How did his body suddenly appear in the morning?” Mahlangu expressed in disbelief.
Residents are struggling to come to terms with the tragedy, and while grief-stricken, they have vowed to support Moshe’s family through this heartbreaking time.
“We will do everything we can to stand with the family and help them find closure,” Mahlangu added.
Police Investigate Possible Electrocution
Authorities have since launched an investigation into the mysterious death, with initial reports suggesting that Moshe may have been electrocuted due to an illegal electrical connection.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatko Nevhuhulwi confirmed that an inquest docket had been opened.
“The police received a report of a missing child from his mother at the Rietgat Police Station on the morning of February 21,” Nevhuhulwi stated. “Later that day, his body was discovered on a pile of electrical cables, indicating a possible electrocution.”
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) confirmed Moshe’s death at the scene, and the police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to aid the investigation.
Community Demands Answers
As Soshanguve residents grapple with the devastating loss, many are demanding action to prevent similar tragedies in the future. Illegal electrical connections have long been a concern in the area, posing dangers to unsuspecting children.
While Moshe’s family remains too distraught to comment, the community continues to rally around them, determined to uncover the truth behind the young boy’s untimely death.
