Background & Job Description

Air Products South Africa (Pty) Ltd is inviting applications for its Engineering Graduate Development Programme (Mechanical), based at the Vanderbijlpark facility. This structured, two-year development programme is tailored to launch the careers of South Africa’s most promising engineering graduates. It offers exposure to real-world challenges in the manufacturing and gas production industries while providing the mentorship and tools needed for future leadership roles in engineering.

This programme is ideal for recent mechanical engineering graduates who are ready to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting while enhancing their leadership, project management, and technical abilities through guided rotations.

Tasks

During the 24-month Engineering Graduate Development Programme, candidates will engage in a variety of activities, including but not limited to:

Participating in cross-functional project teams
Assisting with the operation and maintenance of gas processing and production systems
Contributing to the development and implementation of engineering solutions
Performing root cause analyses and supporting troubleshooting efforts
Enhancing safety, efficiency, and quality across operations
Attending structured training sessions and development workshops
Receiving mentorship from seasoned engineering professionals
Preparing regular technical and progress reports

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following minimum academic and legal criteria to qualify:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized South African institution
Academic Performance: A minimum aggregate of 50% across all subjects
Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen
Driver’s License: Valid South African driver’s license required

Experience

While prior work experience is not required, candidates must demonstrate:

A strong interest in the manufacturing and gas production industries
Practical knowledge of engineering concepts and problem-solving techniques
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
A collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in team environments
Willingness to relocate to Vanderbijlpark, Gauteng, for the duration of the programme
Availability to commit to a full-time graduate development programme
Not currently engaged in any other internship, learnership, or graduate programme
