Actress appears in court over ‘R700k theft’
ACTRESS to appear in court.
Nolwazi Shange will appear in the Brixton Magistrates Court in Joburg on 23 May.
She’s charged with fraud and cybercrime. She’s accused of allegedly stealing close to R700 000 from the set of Queen Modjadji in 2024.
The production company behind the show, Rhythm World opened a case against her.
At the time, sources told Daily Sun what happened.
“Nolwazi worked on the set as a casting manager. She recruited agencies with extras and after they had rendered their services, they were asked to send invoices. The different companies sent their invoices. She did something that wasn’t right.
“She changed the amounts and bank details so the money would go to another unknown company associated with her. People from the agencies went to Rhythm World demanding payment claiming they were never paid. This was a surprise for the production company, so investigations were started, and they discovered what she did, ” a source claimed.
The SunTeam reached out to Nolwazi at the time, but she denied knowing anything about the case.
“I don’t know about it. My contract with Queen Modjadji ended about three months ago, so I don’t know,” she said.
Nolwazi appeared in court on 26 March and her case was postponed to 23 May.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokeswoman Phindi Mjonondwane said: “The next court date is 23 May. She is charged with fraud and cybercrime appearing at Brixton Magistrates Court.”
